When starting a new job, do you learn everything possible before you start making changes?

The Apostle Paul wrote, "As a wise master builder I laid a foundation, and another is building upon it. But let each man be careful how he builds upon it" (1 Corinthians 3:10 NASB).

In most jobs, there is a reason for the existing policies and procedures. Before you make your mark, be certain you understand the current system. Then carefully begin to suggest improvements. Your new ideas will then build upon the solid foundation of the organization. Your creative leadership will emerge and place you on the road to promotion.
